Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on the Harley-Davidson brand in many capacities.

Working with VSA Partners I was Creative Director/Writer for their entire Print and Web program for New Product, Parts, and Dealer Advertising.
This included several major initiatives, including their annual 1,000+ page Big Book; and the web-based dealer ad builder that allows dealerships to pick from multiple layouts, images and headline options to create thousands of possible regional ads easily and compliant with brand standards.
Buell is Harley’s sportbike division. I ran this account for several years as Creative Director/SVP at Laughlin Constable, responsible for brand strategy and all print, collateral, TV, video, interactive marketing and web site development. Major initiatives included a completely new brand strategy and design system; and a ground-breaking video-centric web site and music video program with original recording artists and A-list directors. As the handset division was being sold to Google, the ‘other’ side of Motorola wanted to boost it’s prominence. Under a new brand strategy of ‘Rising to the Situation,’ a dedicated Solutions division site was launched. Multiple videos presented the dynamic problems that law enforcement, manufacturing, logistics and the military face. And how Motorola product solve those problems every day. Back up content connected the multiple products to the exact situations portrayed in the videos. Working with Design Kitchen, Division of Wunderman. Indie Film as Multi-Channel Masterpiece Mon, 24 Jan 2011 17:31:55 +0000 Real Estate mega-stars meet Hollywood stars, sponsor indie short, attract buyers. It was a film, ‘Bubble-Rama’. Sponsored by a major developer that wanted to create an ongoing big event with lots of multi-media hooks to attract an affluent, artsy crowd. The film was accepted in over 15 film festivals across the country, winning best comedy short in several.

That was only the beginning.

Leveraging the film and its star, ‘Law and Order’ and film star Annie Parisse, every component from email to invitations, PR and news coverage became more potent. There was even a Doll-0-Gram where users typed in anything and the foul-mouthed doll from the film would give it life for socializing thru all channels. Of course, all throughout the several month pre-show, festival season and post-festival museum screenings, audience members were engaged with the sponsors subtle but effective sales materials.

LEGO Animated Shorts Mon, 27 Dec 2010 22:18:39 +0000 LEGO MiniFigures come to the Big Screen!
Well, big is relative when you’re 1″ tall. This was a new concept from LEGO: to create their own MiniFigure characters instead of licensing them from the likes of Spielberg and Harry Potter. Mike Wang, Terry Dunne and I were give the chance to develop outsized personalities for these smallest of toys in a series of short animations to appear on the LEGO website, and in the usual social video and media channels. Animated by the talented motion capture 3D wizards at Semerad Animation.

In LEGO’s take on ‘Dancing with the Stars’, a Zombie and a Nurse spinning in a not-so-delicate tango. The ‘Juggler’ features a LEGO Clown grabbing body parts and tossing them expertly in the air. While ‘Dunk This’ has the Cowboy, Zombie and Cheerleader doing their best to drop the Diver into his natural element. See more LEGO Animations on the LEGO site.
